DIEP Program Phases
This is your structured recovery pathway following DIEP flap reconstruction.
Within each phase, you’ll find your prescribed exercise program, key recovery guidance, important milestones, and regular check-ins to help you track progress and know when you’re ready to move forward.
Each phase is designed to provide the right level of support at the right time — helping you rebuild safely, restore function, and regain confidence in your body.
The more we research women's recovery from this surgical procedure, the more we understand that everyone's recovery will be different. Operations vary, tissue healing is unique to the individual and complications may occur. Please understand that your recovery may not follow these phases perfectly and are to be used as a general guide.
To ensure the best outcomes, we strongly recommend completing this program alongside one-on-one sessions with an Accredited Exercise Physiologist from Moving Beyond Cancer. Your program can be tailored, progressed appropriately, and adapted to your individual recovery.
Consultations are available in person at our Camberwell studio (Victoria, Australia) or online via Teams. Once you book, you’ll receive a simple, easy-to-follow link to access your session.
